Who this short trip suits
Chandni is for people with one free night: a couple flying into Bhuj from Mumbai or Delhi for a long weekend, a family adding the Rann to a wider Gujarat holiday, or someone who wants to find out whether the salt desert is for them before giving it three days. You see the White Rann at sunset, eat at the Tent City and sleep at Dhordo, which is the part a day trip from Bhuj cannot give you.
How the night is planned
The day is shaped around the light. After lunch there is time to wander the craft market and the activity zone, but the afternoon is really a run-up to sunset, when the transfer takes you out onto the salt by bus or camel cart. Take a jacket even if the afternoon felt warm, because the temperature falls quickly once the sun has gone.
Dinner and the cultural programme fill the evening. The next morning starts gently, with tea and a yoga session, and check-out is by 09:30. On the way back the coach stops at the Swaminarayan Mandir and the Kutch Museum, so you leave with a little of Bhuj as well as the desert.
Getting to Bhuj on time
Coaches to Dhordo leave from both Bhuj railway station and Bhuj airport on fixed timings, which are printed in your confirmation. Bhuj has non-stop flights from Mumbai and Delhi; there is no flight from Ahmedabad, so travellers from there usually take an overnight train or drive. If your arrival does not match a coach slot, we can arrange a private car, charged separately. Our city-by-city travel guides compare the options.
Choosing a tent for one night
Everyone at Dhordo shares the same food, programme and salt flats; the category only changes the tent. Per person on twin sharing for the 2026–27 season, Chandni runs from ₹7,900 in a Swiss Cottage to ₹13,900 in Super Premium, with taxes extra as applicable. The Swiss Cottage has no air conditioning, which suits the cold months. The Deluxe AC Swiss adds it, useful in November and February. Premium and Super Premium tents are larger, better furnished and closer to the central facilities, and Super Premium adds a sitting area.
When to add a night
One night means one visit to the salt. If you would like to see it again at sunrise, or spend a day at Kalo Dungar and a Banni craft village, the two-night Safar adds exactly that. Pick your dates with the month-by-month guide, then send them through the enquiry form. We check availability with the Tent City and send a written quote within one working day, and there is no payment to enquire.
